Jim Borneman has more than 40 years of experience in the irrigation industry, 34 of which have been spent training contractors. Tens of thousands of landscape and irrigation professionals have attended his educational workshops.
Jim has worked for a variety of manufacturers and distributors. He is the former Director of Education for the Irrigation Association and has held a number of licenses and certifications including a Texas Licensed Irrigator license, Certified Landscape Irrigation Auditor (CLIA), Certified Irrigation Contractor (CIC) and Certified Irrigation Designer (CID) (steps 1 – 4).
Based out of Campbell, Calif., Jim holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in business management from Saint Mary's College.
Raul Gonzalez has more than 45 years of green industry experience, 35 of which have been spent with Ewing.
Raul has been training landscape and irrigation professionals for more than 17 years, and is well equipped to teach industry professionals everything they need to know about landscape irrigation design and system diagnostics.
He travels across the country teaching irrigation troubleshooting seminars and efficient landscape irrigation workshops in both English and Spanish. He is confident that he can make attendees laugh, learn and be more prepared to take on their daily irrigation challenges.
Raul is a Certified Landscape Irrigation Auditor (CLIA), Certified Irrigation Designer (CID) (steps 1 – 2), Texas Licensed Irrigator, and a Pesticide Dealer's Agent. Raul has been a proud member of the
California Landscape Contractors Association (CLCA) since 1977, and previously served as CLCA Members Representative and as a board member of the Landscape Educational Advancement Foundation (LEAF).
He is based out of Ewing's Glendale, Calif., location.
Matt Cline is the business owner of Teacher's Irrigation LLC in Olathe, Kan. He has been with the industry for over 17 years and has a wealth of knowledge in the irrigation field.
Matt specializes in the areas of irrigation, water management and business development and offers educational training across the United States. He has contracted with Ewing for the 2017-18 education season to help teach their education courses.
Matt works hard to help his customers grow in their fields and reach their goals. "I enjoy connecting with people and helping them grow professionally and personally," Matt said. "As a business owner in the green industry, I have an understanding of the struggles contractors and other business owners are facing."
Matt is a husband and father of three children. When not educating customers on irrigation, he enjoys volunteering, coaching various sports his children participate in and participating in activities at his local church.
Tim Fernald is a California Agricultural Pesticide Control Advisor (PCA) and California Qualified Applicator (QAL) who specializes in agronomic products, chemicals, fertilizers, soils and overall plant science. He holds an associate's degree in agronomics from Shasta College and a bachelor's degree in agriculture and business from California State University, Chico.
Tim has been assisting growers, landscape, golf and sports turf professionals in finding solutions for pest problems since 1989.
With more than 28 years of experience in the green industry, Tim is responsible for providing agronomic education consisting of compliance, pesticide guidance and technical support for Ewing employees and customers nationwide.
Tim also served as a past instructor of Plant Science & Plant Protection at Shasta College. Tim's passion is advising and teaching the best agronomic practices in the industry.
In his spare time Tim enjoys boating on Shasta and Whiskeytown Lakes in Northern California.
Larry Perotti is a full-time instructor with Ewing's Education Department, training contractors and employees on topics such as turf and ornamental care, pesticide safety and integrated pest management. He has more than 30 years of experience in the green industry, including service with national industry leaders, including ValleyCrest, TruGreen, Monsanto, JacklinGolf, DuPont and Ewing.
Larry began his green industry career after graduating from Purdue University. He worked as a landscape construction foreman and then started and managed a landscape maintenance division. He got his first taste of teaching in Grand Junction, Colo., where he created and taught an Occupational Horticulture Program for Mesa County Valley School District 51.
Wanting to further his education, Larry enrolled in a graduate program in Plant Pathology at Colorado State University (CSU). After graduating, Larry did an internship with DuPont and then accepted a position as the first CSU Horticulture/Entomology Extension Agent for Douglas County, Colo. There he helped train the Master Gardeners, put on seminars for county residents and developed a horticulture outreach program.
Larry has held multiple roles with Ewing including National Turf &Horticulture Product Sales Manager, Rocky Mountain Regional Manager for Colorado and Utah, Agronomic Sales Manager for Colorado and Utah and his current role as an instructor with the Education Services team.
Larry holds a bachelor's degree in horticulture from Purdue University and a master's degree in plant pathology from Colorado State University.
He is a qualified supervisor for turf and ornamentals for the Colorado Department of Agriculture, a certified arborist for the International Society of Arboriculture and has served on the board for both the Rocky Mountain Regional Turfgrass Association and the Sports Turf Managers Association.
He has a passion for learning and takes pride in breaking down complex information into simple pieces to help his customers understand new concepts.
Rick McNabb is an Instructor and Product Specification Specialist with more than 30 years of green industry experience. He provides landscape and irrigation professionals everywhere with exceptional service and sales support.
Based out of Houston, Texas. Rick's responsibilities include helping contractors develop more business opportunities to help them succeed.
Besides all things Ewing, Rick also specializes in outdoor lighting, pumps, water features, drainage, lake management, mosquito repellent and irrigation. He enjoys supporting his customers by assisting them in the specification, design and selling of landscape enhancements. He uses his business training to help contractors estimate costs and build profitability into every project.
Rick joined Ewing in 1999 and has served in the capacities of Branch Manager, Residential and Commercial Sales Representative, Product Specialist and Instructor.
Rick holds a bachelor's degree from Southwestern Assemblies of God University and a master's degree in business administration from California Coast University.
He is a Texas licensed irrigator (LI3571), certified landscape irrigation auditor (27089) and member of the Houston Gulf Coast Irrigation Association.
In his free time, he enjoys golf, scouting, playing bass guitar and spending time with family.
Cliff Woodbury serves as Executive Vice President Culture and Employee Engagement for Ewing Irrigation & Landscape Supply. With more than 30 years of sales, marketing and business experience, Cliff brings an ability to connect with people and lead them toward success.
He aims to help Ewing develop and enhance its ultimate competitive edge—its company culture. Through his continued involvement in strategic and corporate planning, he brings together employee engagement, leadership and culture.
Cliff brought a decade of sales and marketing managerial experience to Ewing when he joined the team in 1993 as an Administrative Services Manager, a role in which he worked on expanding to new markets, corporate training and customer pricing and account management. In 1996, he was promoted to Vice President of Administrative Services. In 2006, he stepped into a role as Senior Vice President of Marketing and Communications, providing executive oversight of all marketing and communications efforts, training and strategic planning, before moving over to his current role in 2016.
Cliff holds a bachelor's degree in Asian studies with a business concentration from Brigham Young University and a master's degree in International Marketing from Thunderbird School of International Management.
Based in Phoenix, Ariz., Cliff is a long-standing Franklin Covey Certified Coach and instructs hundreds of professionals each year on developing skill sets in the areas of leadership, prioritization, project management and personal and professional development.
For the last decade, "Coach" PJ Rovinelli has been a coach, leadership educator and speaker with the focus on enhancing individual, team and corporate performance.
He has coached for the University of Arizona, Arizona State University and Grand Canyon University, where he helped produce dozens of All-Conference and All-American players. He left college athletics in 2010 to pursue a career in corporate coaching, where his focus is developing cultures of wellness and personal leadership.
Coach PJ joined the Ewing Learning & Development team in 2018 after 5 years of working as a one of the company's consultants developing wellness programs and leadership workshops. He is the owner of Humanics Coaching, LLC, a talent development and corporate wellness consulting company, and the host of the Coaching on Tap Podcast.
He graduated magna cum laude with a degree in business management from Springfield College (Massachusetts), where he was a two-sport athlete as a goalie on the lacrosse team and captain of the wrestling team earning 2x Academic All-American honors.
